I've also tried capturing from my webcam just to see if I can capture, but VLC hangs and I have to kill it. I believe video1 must be the DVC-100, but I can get no picture on screen from it, nor capture anything to file. video0 is apparently my webcam, as my own pretty face shows up when I try to stream from that device.
